Your vision is only as real as your light source

Sight and vision allow us to connect with our surroundings and keep us safe. In order to see, light is crucial for vision. It bounces off objects and enters your eyes, which allows you to see. What you see is from the reflection of light and its colour contents. Imagine, if the sun is missing the green colour, then what colour will you see the grass and trees? The answer is black.

Sunlight is our first natural light source and it’s the most comfortable for human beings since it is the source of illumination to which our eyes adapt naturally. Natural light has a proven impact on health and well-being. Hence, over the years humans have advanced artificial light to come near to its “real” and natural light source.

How do we measure whether your light source is real and natural? A quantitative measuring method named Color Rendering Index (CRI) is used. CRI below 55 is considered poor and above 90 is excellent. CRI is a measure of a light source’s ability to show object colors “realistically” and “naturally”. Light sources with a high CRI are desirable, therefore the higher the CRI index, the better the color rendering ability. Some generic LED products in the market are giving CRI around 80, where most don’t even indicate. Lumihome lights present a CRI scoring of 98.

This is the reason why clothes display looks better in the store, paintings look real in the gallery and food looks better when you are dining in a restaurant. Light sources with the ability to show real and natural are selected and positioned to appeal to its audiences. This also explains the changing trend of more couples taking wedding photographs outdoors with natural sunlight, which has a better effect than in the studio with backdrop.

Most Asian homes use parquet flooring, here is a comparison using a low CRI rating LED light versus Lumihome light. One of the most used home applications is the home parquet floor and here is the comparison of how you will see the floor using Lumihome high CRI LED light and others low CRI LED light.

It is important to have a light source that contains as much colour and as fullness as possible. There is a scientific scale called colour rendering index (CRI), which is referencing a light source to our ultimate light, the Sun. Sun light index is given as 100 points, and comparison light source is compared to how many percent it closely resembled the Sunlight.

Rule of thumb: bad lighting can only resemble less than 80 percent of Sunlight, and it has a CRI index of less than 80. An acceptable light source is scored between 80-93 and just like exam scores 80s are Bs, while 90s are As.

Don’t compromise your overall wellness? Lumihome LED light is rated at 98. You deserve to see the world in fullness, even at night.
